We made Delayr to bring you joy, audacity, & abundance. Delayr means audacious in Urdu, Persian, Punjabi, and Hindi. We are proud of our South Asian roots and honor the legacy of our ancestors' everyday gold jewelry at Delayr.

We are a Berkeley, California-based small woman-owned business brought to life by Sahar. Among Sahar's earliest memories are playing with her mom's pearls while she was stringing her designs, which were sold on 5th Avenue in New York. Her mom went on to create one of Pakistan's most well-known 22K gold jewelry labels. Sahar grew up testing designs for wearability and quality, helping with product shoots and sales, and packing items for her mother's brand. And then she stepped away to pursue a career in journalism. Her mother was a trusted and generous advisor while Sahar built Delayr.
While you won't find heavy investment-worthy 22K gold or old school designs here, you will find lightweight wearable 18K gold filled everyday jewelry and unforgettable statement pieces that gives a shout-out to our rich bold unapologetic culture.
Our ancestors once lived gently, consciously, and communally in an abundant world without harmful colonialists or billionaires hoarding and robbing resources and wealth. We manifest the sacred collective abundance of our past in our present.
18K Gold Filled
Our jewelry is 18K gold filled. Gold filled means our pieces are luxe but affordable; they last longer, are tarnish-resistant, waterproof, and safe for sensitive skin. Unlike gold plated jewelry, gold filled jewelry actually has a measurable amount of gold in it. Gold fill contains 5% of solid gold. 18K gold fill is created through heating and bonding a layer of 18K gold onto a base metal, usually brass. 18K gold filled is considered demi-fine jewelry.
Care Guide
Gold filled jewelry is safe to wear in water, but can be damaged by harsh chemicals and salt, so avoid wearing it in hot tubs, swimming pools, and the ocean. If you want your jewelry to last longer, remove it before working out, cleaning, and applying personal care products, sprays, or perfume. To clean, use a jewelry polishing cloth and wipe away any residue or dust. We do not recommend using strong jewelry cleaners on gold filled jewelry. You can rinse with water, a gentle hand soap and dry it with a gentle cloth too. And then safely store your jewelry in your Delayr pouch. When traveling with your Delayr jewelry, be thoughtful, store with care, wrap in tissue and make sure your pieces aren't pressing against something weighty that can bend or break them.
